How to Find Out Your Domain Registrar

If you don't remember who your domain was purchased through, you can visit https://lookup.icann.org to find that information.


Scroll down to where it says "registrar information" and look for the name of the registrar.


Common registrars are:


Namecheap

GoDaddy

register.com



Knowing who your domain registrar is important for the following reasons:


- you must pay to retain your domain name

- if you need to add DNS records or change your name servers

- to avoid being scammed by misleading companies sending you snail mail and claiming that you owe them money to keep your domain name
